What the toolkit does

The A&E Toolkit is a royalty-free dynamic-link library (DLL) that you include with your server applications.

The DLL exposes a set of objects to your Visual C++ application (see the illustration above). The object model is simple enough for rapid server implementations, yet flexible and efficient for the development of complex and high performance OPC servers.

When you use the toolkit, your server development effort is focused on driver code development and the value-added features of your product, not the intricacies of OPC and COM. The DLL encapsulates the COM interface definitions and the OPC A&E standard.

Once your A&E server is developed, the server can be accessed by OPC A&E client applications via COM and DCOM.
